All about SWIG
Learn about wine
SWIG was set up to give members a better understanding of the complex world of wine and broaden their vinous experience. We enjoy what we do and encourage participation by all members regardless of their wine knowledge. Taste is personal and sharing impressions with each other always adds to the fun.
To this end at the tastings we have evolved a broad scoring system where members raise their hands to rate each wine on a five point scale, allowing individual comparisons, stimulating further discussion.
What we do
To learn and talk about wine by tasting
Taste wine by grape variety, style, outlet or region.

Seek good value wines
Taste classic and new wines at all price points

Tastings are led by a member or an invited merchant.
Full notes and a tasting sheet are provided together with bread.

Membership
The membership cost is £15.00 per year. This charge covers admin, printing and cash-flow as wine is bought in advance of tastings.
Each event usually has a charge for the evening of £20.00, although this can rise for special tastings of more expensive wines. It can fall too!

We also go out of Salisbury on occasion for dinners in the Summer and Winter. This year we are using a pop-up restaurant in Coombe Bissett village hall.
The venue
We use the St. John Suite at the Mercure White Hart Hotel
1 St. John Street
Salisbury
SP1 2SD

The hotel has its own parking, but you must enter the car's registration number on the iPad at reception or you may face a penalty charge.

We have our own ISO tasting glasses kept at the White Hart.

We meet on the second Thursday of the month at 7:15pm for 7:30pm unless we are on a visit outside Salisbury.
